Why do you forsake me?

Scripture: (Psalm 80:3-7)

Restore us, O God; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved. O LORD God Almighty, how long will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? You have fed them with the bread of tears; you have made them drink tears by the bowlful. You have made us a source of contention to our neighbors, and our enemies mock us. Restore us, O God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.

Observation: The people of Israel are Crying out to God to save them, to not forsake them.
Application: It’s funny in this world we live in. This world of “Freedom” and “Choices”.  A world that God allowed us to have FREE WILL. It’s funny to me because I, like most everyone, think that God ALLOWS us to suffer, or God ALLOWS things to happen to us. We often get upset or angry at God for allowing it. But if we truly stop and sit back and think about what we are upset or angry about; we’ll see that it completely contradicts the word of God. How can a merciful, wonderful, caring, LOVING God forsake us? If we are truly honest with ourselves and look back into everything, every decision, every choice, every moment, most time we can see that we are in this mess that we created for ourselves. God hasn’t placed us in it, nor has he “allowed” it to happen. He gave us FREE WILL when he created us. Most often we have chosen the options that lead us to situation. Being selfish, greedy people, we never want to blame ourselves. That makes us responsible, and weak. We have to blame someone, or something. After all, we don’t choose hurt, or lies, or hatred, or jealousy, or unhappiness for ourselves. Or do We? God only wants happiness and purity in our lives. He will always be our rope to hang onto when our sand is sinking beneath our feet. He will always be there to be the shoulder to cry on, or a hand to hold, or someone to love us back. God doesn’t forsake us, he allows us to choose our own choices. God’s will is a perfect will. Not being perfect, how can I follow a perfect will? I believe God has a plan, (Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.) it’s a plan of Goodness, not harm, not unhappiness, not UNFULFILLMENT! My belief is God has a permissible will. Of course he has a plan for us, and that plan isn’t to allow harm, but he still allows us to choose our path. I think his will is always there, just sometimes we have to take detours or the not so beautiful “scenic” route before we get there. Sometimes it makes the journey shorter, but often times, it makes it longer!
Prayer: God I pray to you tonight. I want to walk in your will. I want to be in your perfect will. However I know I am only human, and I will not be in your perfect will. You already know the steps I will take, but you allow them so that I can see you. That I can come to know you more, develop relationship with you more. How do I come to know someone better or someone’s desires better? I develop a relationship with them. I have to have a relationship before I can know their heart. Lord thank you for sending your Son to die for me so that I may experience that relationship even closer. I know that by allowing that relationship to grow stronger, Father that I will get to know your will better. I will learn to hear your voice clearer, and see the light of my path clearer. Thank you for not being a God that will forsake me. Thank you for being a merciful, forgiving, loving God. That no matter what wrong choices I make, you have a plan for me, and it’s for my good. It may just take longer to get there.

Even When I Can’t Believe My Own Eyes

Scripture: (Matthew 28:16-20)Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Observation: Even with their own eyes, some of the disciples couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Even knowing he died, the fact that he rose again, some still couldn’t believe that he was The Christ.
Application: Sometimes faith alone must be what we have to hold on to. Even though we could see exactly what we want to believe; sometimes it still doesn’t feel like it’s enough. We want to be proven, even when we are able to see. If God proved himself to me every time I wanted him to, or if he spoke to me every time I think I need him to, the minute I ask; I would take advantage of that. I would become spoiled. There would be no FAITH anymore.
Prayer: Lord I pray I never take for granted the things you do in my life. Lord that you continue to speak to me in your time. More importantly, that I learn to listen for your voice more clearly. The only Spoiling I wish to become accustomed to is walking in your presence and in your will. Lord I thank you for the blessings you continue to shower upon me. I’m sorry for the things I overlook daily, and the ungratefulness I often show. Lord I need you to speak louder in my life right now that before. I need to know the path of which I need to take, and the decisions I need to make to do it. Give me the strength, will, and fight to make the right decisions. Amen

Well I finally took the plunge and got my iPhone. Have to say, I was worried about sound quality loss. So far AT&T hasn’t been too bad. Had a couple calls that were lost. However the device itself, it amazing. It’s everything you want in a phone, PDA, organizer, and information gatherer in one device. I truly love it!

I’m sitting at our church, in the Pastor’s office. Was trying to work on my resume and get it updated so that I can submit it for another position at work. Can’t really concentrate on it much though. The room is not lit artifically. No lamps, or light switches, or candles on. Just a Northern facing window of rippled glass allowing just enough light from outside to be able to see comfortably without being harsh. Listening to Gateway Chruch Worship CD – “We Cry Out”. At PEACE. Somewhat melancholy mood. That seems to be my hearts cry right now. It doesn’t want to fight, it doesn’t want to work. Just sit and listen and “soak” in the presence of GOD. Some wonderful worship music from them!!! If you haven’t heard of them, go listen. Good stuff, extremely heartfelt!

So, Thinking of getting….

More than likely I will be getting one. We are now able to carry our own personal device thru work and get some of a Expense that we can claim. Along with, we get some credit towards the purchase of the deivce and accessories.

I currrently have an iPod Touch, and have for about a year now… I LOVE it. Use it Daily! And I carry my cell daily, so why not combine them both?!?!

What do you think about the new iPhone? Let me know!

The New MacBook Pro

•January 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment

So a buddy picked up a new 15″ Macbook Pro recently. Needless to say I’ve been quite jealous. I’ve been helping him a lot with the transition from MS Windows to Mac OSX. So far he’s doing really well with the transition. But all that help is making me want one so badly. So I’m selling some of my guitar gear and some other stuff. Hopefully with my tax return, I’ll have one in a couple months.

I really can’t wait to tell you the truth. I’ve been wanting one for so long. They are what computing should be about. Simple, intuative, stylish, but most of all, it just works. It works well with the peripherals and other apps made for it. No fighting with the right drivers or anything like that. It just works.

If you have never had the chance to play with one, go visit the Apple store close to you. Or if there isn’t an Apple store close, hit the local Best Buy and see if they have one to play with. I seriously think it would change your mind about computing or bring it to a whole other light.

Bummer Sooner!!!

Well another BCS Championship game down the drain!!! I have to admit, they played hard… but in the end, we’ve lost 5 straight! 3 for a Championships! Florida played well. We couldn’t contain Tebow and it really hurt that we couldn’t score 2 of the 3 times we were in the red zone. 1 YARD LINE and can’t run the ball. A hard hard loss. However, I will still stand proud as a Sooner fan. Our Sooner nation has nothing to be ashamed of, maybe just a little disappointed! Ultimately, I am proud of our team and efforts this year. You did a great job Men! Hats off to you!

Ok, so over the past few weeks, I’ve come to use Twitter.

I didn’t see the addiction to it at first, but after weeks of Tweeting, I’ve caught the “bug”!

It’s has allowed me to communicate with people I never would have met in normal situations, and most of all allowed me to get back in touch with some old friends.

Follow me on Twitter, or give me your twitter info and I’ll check you out.
